Greathead Physiotherapy is situated in Diep River, Cape Town.

Kathy qualified in 2001 from WITS and then did an intensive postgraduate course in orthopaedic manual therapy in 2005.

Kathy has worked in private practice since 2002. She has been involved with numerous sports teams including helping with national cricket teams such as The Highveld Lions and Cape Cobras. She was the physiotherapist for Villagers Rugby club for 3 years and she has also worked with runners, cyclists, dancers and other sports men and women.

Kathy started her own practice in 2008 after working with many highly qualified physiotherapists who nurtured her passion and shared their knowledge and skills.


Kathy has now been qualified for 18 years.

Kathy completed a Pilates mat work course in 2008 through Reneé Watson’s Conscious Movement Education. She runs Pilates classes and private mat work sessions.

In 2016 Kathy did a post-graduate course specialising in the treatment and diagnosis of lymphoedema and all forms of swelling. This course is recognised under the International Lymphoedema and Wound Training Institute.

Kathy enjoys working with a multi-disciplinary team and has worked closely with Biokineticists, Sports physicians, Occupational therapists and dietitians.

Carla has several years of experience in private hospital and out-patient treatment of a variety of conditions and patients. Commonly treated conditions range from sports injuries such as muscle strains and ankle sprains to back and neck pain and headaches.

Through her experience in ICU and hospitals as well as outpatient practices, Carla has become passionate about treating adults and children with acute and recurring bronchitis, pneumonia, asthma and sinusitis and believes in the value of lung physio in bringing relief to these common ailments.  

In addition to her honours degree, Carla has completed certificates in Orthopaedic Manual Therapy, dry needling and chronic pain. Carla is confident and determined to assess and treat your aches and pains!


Carla graduated from University of Pretoria (Tuks) in 2014 with an Honours Degree in Physiotherapy and went on to complete her comserve year at Far East Rand Hospital. Thereafter, she worked at a well-established private physiotherapy practice in Pretoria East as well as working extensively at Life Wilgers and Netcare Pretoria East hospitals. In subsequent years, she locummed for six different practices to increase and diversify her experience in hospital and out-patient practices.

Carla launched her own successful practice up in Pretoria and has decided to work under Kathy in order to develop her career further in providing treatments in line with industry best practice.


She has a special interest in spinal conditions as well as chronic pain conditions and enjoys working with older patients and younger patients alike. Carla would like to ultimately use her enthusiasm and passion to educate her patients about healthy living and managing chronic pain conditions in order to keep performing and living life to the fullest.


Carla is passionately focused in leading an active lifestyle and enjoys hiking, swimming and running. Along with her husband and parents, she completed the Fish River Canyon hike as well as the Strandloper and numerous others. She also completed the half-marathon distances of the Two Oceans and Kaapsehoop Marathons, though she would love to run the full distances like her husband has.
